Kitchens

Designing the kitchen as a whole — layout, fronts, worktops, appliances and mechanisms, decided together.

The kitchen as one system

When the cabinetry, appliances, sink, tap and service points are decided separately, dimensions and fittings may not match — a fridge door that cannot open fully, a socket behind a cabinet, a tap that does not suit the sink.

Designing them together resolves these questions at the drawing stage, before anything is ordered or built.

  • Layout and ergonomics
  • Fronts, carcasses and worktops
  • Mechanisms and internal fittings
  • Appliance selection and coordination
  • Sink and tap selection
  • Coordination with electrical and plumbing points

Ergonomics are measured, not assumed

Worktop height, the distances between sink, hob and fridge, the direction a drawer opens — these are measurable decisions, taken at layout stage while they can still be changed without reworking anything already built.
